FOR MT. PLEASANT SCHOOL BOARD

About Me
MY EXPERIENCES & BELIEFS

My Professional Journey
Here is a little bit about my professional experiences and what I believe makes me valuable as a school-board member in MPPS:
-
Elementary Educator for 15 years - I earned my Bachelor's in Elementary Education from CMU in Dec. of 2004 and taught for 4 years in Pinellas County, FL. Then we moved back to Mt. Pleasant in 2009, where I taught for 11 years. I worked closely with students, families, and colleagues to foster inclusive, caring, and engaging learning environments.
-
Fixed-term faculty member at Central Michigan University - with a doctoral degree in educational leadership, I seek to contribute to the academic development of future educators and help them create caring, inclusive, and academically rigorous classroom writing experiences for their students.
*** My perspective as both a K–12 and higher education professional allows me to understand the educational pipeline and advocate for policies that support teachers and student achievement at all levels.
Other Experiences & Beliefs
In addition to my professional experience, I bring a unique perspective, having been born and raised in Bulgaria (Eastern Europe) and experiencing my K-12 education in a European Country with a very different education system.
Having those experiences makes me a valuable member of a school board with a diverse population and range of experiences.
I offer strong communication skills, a collaborative mindset, and a deep commitment to equity and transparency. I have served on various school committees and community initiatives, and I am passionate about ensuring that every teacher in our district feels heard and supported and that each student has access to high-quality education and support services.
I care deeply about our schools—not just as an educator, but as a parent and neighbor. I believe in listening to diverse perspectives, engaging with our community, and making thoughtful decisions that reflect the values and needs of our staff, students, and families. I am excited about the opportunity to contribute to the strategic direction of our district and to help shape a future where all teachers and students thrive.
Thank you for taking the time to learn more about my experiences! I would be honored to serve and support the Mount Pleasant Public Schools, so GO VOTE for Margarita Wilson this November, 2026!!!
